The Top STEM Toys Under $20

The Top STEM Toys Under $20

It's the new year and the perfect time to introduce your students to some fun, hands-on STEM learning toys. These toys are great for developing critical thinking and problem solving skills as well as fostering creativity. These STEM toys are all under $20 and are perfect for STEM centers, indoors recess, morning work, STEM Friday, and early finishers.

I'm sure you've probably seen Snap Cubes. You may even have some in your math manipulatives cabinet. If you do you know the benefits of Snap Cubes for helping students think through math in a concrete way. The question is, have you used these wonderful manipulatives for STEM? Give students a shape or object and see if they can build it with Snap Cubes or just let them see where their creativity takes them.

These Waffle Blocks encourage hands-on exploration as children imagine and build. This particular set also includes numbers on each block. Imagine the math connections students could make! For example after building students could calculate the total value of their building by adding up all of the numbers.

Skoolzy Straw Structures Engineering Kit includes straws and connectors. Students are able to bring their imagination to life while also working on fine motor skills.

EMIDO Building Blocks are perfect for building teamwork skills as students work together to build flowers, animals, buildings, or whatever else their imaginations lead them to build. Students can also work on additional skills such as colors, art, and creativity.

Brain Flakes are the perfect STEM toy that promotes engineering and design. The round discs easily snap together to allow students to create whatever is in their imagination.

These Magnetic Tiles are perfect for developing engineers. The shapes easily attach together to create composite shapes. In addition to STEM these tiles would make the perfect addition to any geometry lesson.

These Building Bricks are similar to Legos, but you will definitely get more bang for your buck with these. If you are looking to set up a STEM center building bricks are essential. These are great tools for building, and students love them!

As teachers I know we are not made of money so that is why I have compiled a list of the best STEM toys under $20. If you still find $20 a difficult amount to spend there are other options such as asking for donations from parents, having students do a fundraiser, or starting a Donors Choose. I assure you that your students will thank you for getting some of these awesome STEM resources into their hands.
