March is just a few days away, and I am looking forward to warmer temperatures as well spring STEM fun! The following are some of my favorite March STEM activities for elementary students.
Is anyone else a fan of March Madness? This March STEM Basketball Shooter is the perfect activity to get students collaborating and problem solving while embracing the fun of March Madness. For this activity students design a basketball goal and basketball shooter to launch a ping pong ball and score a basket. You can learn more about these March Madness activities in this blog post.
Another one of my favorite March STEM activities is a St. Patrick's Day themed STEM activity where students have to build a leprechaun tower out of tape and straws. The tower that supports the most pennies is the winner of this challenge.
For this next STEM challenge students must design a windmill. This activity is perfect to begin introducing students to wind power and renewable energy. The windmill must stand on its own and the blades must rotate.
Another great St. Patrick's Day themed STEM challenge is for students to design a rainbow bridge. For this challenge students build a bridge out of colorful straws. The bridge that can support the most books is the winner of this challenge.
All of these March STEM challenges are bundled together at a discounted price and include teacher and student directions as well as student planning and reflection sheets.
